Cardiac Event RecordingCardiac Event Recorder: is a device that can be worn up to four weeks. Some recorders are applied to the body via wires and sticky electrodes daily by the patient. Other types are kept in your pocket and can be hooked up to your chest when the symptoms occur. With either type of recorder, the patient calls a monitoring company after experiencing symptoms. The rhythm is sent via phone (a land line is needed) to the monitoring company. The staff at the monitoring company checks the rhythm. If it is benign, the event is faxed to our office the following day. If the rhythm is serious, the monitoring company notifies your physician immediately. The devices are small, typically the size of a cell phone. There is no preparation for the hookup |
